2011 was an excellent year for Fowler State Bank and Benton Financial Corporation.  Basic earnings per share increased 265% to $2.10 per share.  Return on average assets was a very respectable 1.20%.  Book Value improved 16% to close the year at $23.57 per share.  The Bank maintained an adequate reserve for loan loss of 2.5% of total loans while decreasing non-performing assets.

Our Ag Loan Department just launched an outstanding new product called Selective Hedge.  This product is available to any producer in our market area.  It is an interactive data management tool designed for producers, that provides a daily snapshot of the producers  crop(s) value relative to the marketplace in a clear and concise format.  This product will help a producer take their farming operation to the next level.

On December 31, 2011, William B. Weist retired as Director from both Fowler State Bank and Benton Financial Corporation.  We will miss the exemplary dedication and counsel Mr. Weist provided the past 26 years.

Please welcome FSB’s new full-time accounting employee, Brooke Krug from Goodland.   Brooke is a graduate of South Newton High School.  She is the daughter of Shannon Krug and the late Melinda Krug of Goodland.

On January 24th, Fowler State Bank sponsored the Benton Central Lady Bison Ballin’ for the Cure game versus the Central Catholic Lady Knights.

Fowler State Bank employees attended the game & raised $200 to be donated to the Susan G Komen Foundation.

 

Mark your calendars!  Fowler State Bank will be hosting its annual Shred Day on Saturday, May 19th from 10:00 AM until Noon.  Shredding services will be provided by Cintas Document Management in the main bank parking lot.

Cost of shredding is free with a donation of canned goods, dried goods, or a monetary donation to be presented to the local food pantry.
