Curt Puetz celebrated his 20th Anniversary with Fowler State Bank on August 1st.  Congrats Curt & thank you for your many years of service & dedication to Fowler State Bank!

Recently, Fowler State Bank baked & donated cookies for two local organizations.  On June 27th & July 18th, cookies were provided to The Compass.  The Compass has been providing lunch time meals Monday through Friday all summer long for anywhere from 35-50 children.  They are able to do this with donations from individuals, organizations, and area churches.

On July 24th, 6 dozen cookies & napkins were provided for the Blood Drive at the Fowler United Methodist Church.

The summer is winding down, and the start of the school year is right around the corner.  Benton & Newton Community Schools are back in session on August 14th & Warren Community Schools on August 13th.  Please remember to stay alert while driving.  Here are some simple reminders to help drivers avoid any unnecessary accidents:

  • Slow down and be especially alert in the residential neighborhoods and school zones
  • Take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians and on curbs
  • Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully
  • Watch for children on and near the road in the morning and after school hours
  • Reduce any distractions inside your car so you can concentrate on the road and your surroundings. Put down your phone and don’t talk or text while driving

Is your budget full of surprises for you? Do you even have a budget? If you don’t, do you run out of money during the month and wonder how it happened?

A monthly budget can help you track expenses and feel in more control of your life. Remember these tips:

  • Length of month. Bear in mind that some months have five Fridays (or other days), instead of four, so if you are making a monthly budget that includes weekly payments, your numbers won’t mesh in the end. A few extra days can make you feel like you are failing to stay on your budget.
  • Small expenses. Seemingly modest spending can add up fast. For example, do you go to the movies every week? Be sure to include that in your budget. Try to think of everything you spend money on: magazine subscriptions, batteries, you name it. These things can affect whether you end up sticking to your budget or giving up.

Most people react with shock when they see how much they really spend, as compared to how much they think they spend. Be honest with yourself, and in time you’ll feel empowered, not frightened, by the thought of sticking to your budget.
